開季以來備受關注，馬林魚隊42歲日籍球星鈴木一朗，29日代打擊出生涯第2998支安打，距離大聯盟3千安僅最後2支，台灣時間30日上午7時主場再戰紅雀，「朗神」確定擔任先發，有望成為大聯盟史上首位進入3千安俱樂部的亞洲球員。
2萬5千名球迷起立鼓掌中，鈴木一朗29日7局下代打擊出右外野二壘打，該局馬林魚隊再添1分，也是他生涯第335支二壘打。儘管最終4比5敗陣，但所有焦點都在鈴木一朗身上，擊出瞬間，在休息室的我國左投陳偉殷及馬林魚王牌先發費南德茲都興奮不已。
費南德茲說，「我們都超挺他，當時我肩膀還在冰敷，我就這樣和陳偉殷又叫又跳。他每次安打，我都興奮地像小孩，能參與歷史是我的榮幸，看他敲安打如同看到神。」
大聯盟生涯第16年，鈴木一朗有2533支安打是在前12年效力水手隊所擊出，披洋基條紋衫再添311安，自去年轉戰馬林魚隊至今，累計154安，再2支安打就能達成3千安里程碑，追平海盜隊名人堂球星克里門提（Roberto Clemente），成為史上第30人，也是除了洋基重炮「A-Ro」羅瑞格茲之外，現役第2人達陣3千安。
近7場僅讓鈴木一朗先發1場，教頭麥汀利表示，「他並不是為自己紀錄，是為團隊而戰，我想他能夠了解我們的調度。」30日鈴木一朗確定先發，球團特別規劃倒數一朗3千安票價，讓球迷能在主場見證歷史。
馬林魚隊30日將派出1勝2負的厄瑞納，對壘紅雀7勝8負右投李克，鈴木一朗生涯面對李克4個打數1安打，不過他本季擔任先發，打擊率高達3成42，遠優於代打的2成93。
